Book I Just Finished

Image
Just read "The Book of the Vedas" by Virender Kumar Arya and Malcolm Day. It helped to fill in some of the details about Hinduism for me, although I have many more books about it to read! The title is misleading, it's more of an overview of Hinduism in general. In addition to adults who have read a little on the subject, I'd recommend it to middle school kids! Now, I have to return it to the library...

Pearls of Bounty

The Baha'i Publishing Trust (Baha'i Bookstore) is unrivaled in its many publications of spiritual literature pertaining to religious writings, particularly the Baha'i Faith, such as tablets penned by the messenger of God Baha'u'llah that were translated and made available in many different languages. Pearls of Bounty, by Baha'u'llah's son, Abdu'l-Baha, contains many reassurances written for the uncertain times around World War I, and is just as much extremely relevant to today. I just finished reading it. It has some prayers in the beginning. Some of the material has never appeared in print. It's a brand new publication, made to coincide with the centenary (100 year anniversary) of the death of Abdu'l-Baha. Abdu'l-Baha did a lot to garner attention to the Baha'i Faith. He visited America and answered a lot of questions and gave replies in a simple and concise, intelligent; kind manner. To this day, he guides my understanding of the B...

About the Baha'i Faith

For those who don't know about the Baha'i Faith, a religion that started in 1844 in Persia, and spread around the world, I'm sharing this article from a few years ago. There is perhaps a misunderstanding or misconception in this article. It does list Krishna as a prophet, when Krishna is God, perhaps a misinterpretation based on the Baha'i perspective of messengers of God. There is also the Baha'i belief that God does not take human form, but can instead perfectly reflect his or her light on a messenger such as Jesus, Moses, or Baha'u'llah...  It's a little detail that you can't let impede your search for the truth. All religions tend to misinterpret other faiths in big or little ways, but as long as religions are honest with their intentions ans are in harmony with each other they are true faiths of God!  https://bahaiteachings.org/bahai-faith-basic-overview/

Greetings!

I hope this message finds you well! I've decided to step away from my old blog, and re-affirm my commitment to my own faith, as well as spiritual issues that have been germinating in my mind for a very long time! Thanks to the Hare Krishnas, I've been passionate about certain dharmic approaches to spirituality for quite some time. I never noticed this kind of interest in the subject was in me, it lay dormant!  When I was younger I didn't want to bother with concepts such as God and what is the spirit, and what is it made of? I didn't have the time! I figured, you would never know, so why bother thinking about it! Isn't it boring? Now that I'm older, I've reaffirmed my commitment to the Baha'i faith. I've also gained appreciation for various conceptions of the spirit and spiritual world based on various Hindu views. Studying meditation the way some of the Hindus look at it, particularly in reform movements such as the Vedanta Society, has helped to s...
